There are only 7 computers total so I can do it this way but I have print services set up on the Server to deploy the printer to everyone and would like to avoid that solution if possible. So to save myself a repeated headache I went this route. (depending on the printer/scanner models interface). In your Printers web interface, log in as admin, go to the address book and set up the network path as the IP address of the NAS, if there is a folder option use Scans. Create a user on the NAS called 'Scanner', set a good password. I save the scans to each computer so that they have a local copy of the files that they can go back to if they need the files again (their request) on our old printer I originally had a share on the server for that held the scans and I can't tell you how many times I was asked "where are my scans located?" even if I put a shortcut on their desktop. Create a folder on the NAS called 'Scans'. Select a destination folder or target program from the Scan To menu. When you click on the scan option on the printer the first selection is scan to file (S2F) so I wanted to make sure that's what was set up.įrom what I can tell there's no option in the web management page for the S2F only the scan to network option so I ended up downloading the full software solution and going into the ControlCenter and defining the options there. The Brother MFC-240C is a multifunction printer intended primarily for home use. I ended up getting it to work (even if I'm not happy with the solution.) So, the reason I'm doing things this way is I'm trying to make things as simple as possible for everyone in the office.
